Cloud Migration & Optimization
Moving to the cloud based on your goals: performance, costs, continuity, security, and the ability to evolve
An effective cloud migration does not start from the provider. It starts from what the company wants to achieve. The right question is not which cloud to use or which servers to move, but what must improve after the migration. We start from the real context — applications, databases, data, workloads, constraints, costs, and skills — and only then define the strategy, target architecture, cloud patterns, and operating plan. Miriade has worked on cloud environments for more than 10 years, with expertise in infrastructure, applications, databases, Hadoop, Cloudera, data platforms, DevOps, and operations.
The service in brief
- Service
- Goal-driven migration, modernization, and optimization of applications, databases, workloads, and data platforms.
- When you need it
- The migration cannot be a mere technical move: it requires decisions on costs, architecture, data, and post-migration management.
- R.O.C.E. phase
- Evolve: the fourth phase of the Miriade R.O.C.E. methodology (Recover · Optimize · Control · Evolve).
- Who it is for
- Organizations modernizing cloud and delivery, or rationalizing their data ecosystems.
- Scope
- Applications, databases, workloads, cloud/hybrid/multi-cloud, data platforms, Hadoop, and Cloudera.
- Approach
- Goals, constraints, strategy, and architectural pattern: never an off-the-shelf migration.
- Distinct from
- A lift-and-shift for its own sake, which moves systems but does not improve outcomes.
When “moving to the cloud” is not enough
The service fits when the migration involves decisions on applications, databases, data, costs, architecture, security, and post-migration management.
Goals first, technology second
The question is not which cloud. It is: what must improve after the migration?
Two design patterns
Once goals, constraints, and strategy are clear, we help you choose the most consistent architectural pattern. The main choice is between two approaches — and the best answer is often a balance between them.
Cloud-native optimization
Maximize the value of the chosen cloud provider.
Portable cloud architecture
Reduce lock-in and increase portability.
The choice can be hybrid: cloud-native where it brings immediate value, portability where lock-in is a risk. It is not an ideological choice. It follows goals, costs, risks, and in-house skills.
How it works
From understanding the context to post-go-live stabilization: a process that reaches the migration with a concrete roadmap, not a theoretical choice.
Context triage
We define scope and boundaries: why migrate, which systems are involved, what must improve, and which constraints and risks must be managed.
Technical and operational assessment
We analyze applications, databases, workloads, infrastructure, and data platforms: system map, dependencies, cloud readiness, risks, and quick wins.
Target architecture design
We define the target cloud and pattern (native or portable), networking, security, databases, data, backup, monitoring, automation, and operating model.
Migration plan
Sequencing by priority and risk: prerequisites, testing, cutover, rollback, maintenance windows, responsibilities, and post-migration activities.
Execution or support
In an advisory, co-managed, or hands-on mode: configuration, migration of workloads, databases, and big data, automation, testing, cutover, and go-live support.
Optimization and stabilization
After go-live, we review performance, costs, backup, security, and workloads, with an optimization plan and optional continuous management.
One system, not isolated components
Many post-migration problems arise from the interaction between application, database, network, and configuration. That is why we work on the complete system.
Applications
Assessment, dependency mapping, runtime, performance, deployment, containerization where useful, and CI/CD integration.
Databases
Migration, tuning, query optimization, backup/restore, sizing, and business continuity, integrated with MirDB.
Workloads & infrastructure
VMs, networking, storage, identity and access, security, monitoring, backup, and automated provisioning (IaC).
Cloud, hybrid & multi-cloud
Public, private, hybrid, or multi-cloud, and progressive migrations: the most sustainable architecture for each client, not a one-size-fits-all model.
Data platforms & analytics
Data pipelines, analytics workloads, query performance, processing costs, and readiness for analytics and AI, backed by our data platform and DataOps expertise.
Hadoop, Cloudera & big data
Migration and upgrade of Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters: HDFS, Kudu, Hive/Impala, Kerberos, Ranger, Knox, edge nodes, data replication, and post-migration tuning.

Frequently asked questions
Is Cloud Migration & Optimization only about cloud migration?
No. It covers migration, selective modernization, optimization, and the operating model. The goal is to understand what must improve, not just to move systems.
Do you only do lift-and-shift?
No. Lift-and-shift is useful for exiting a data center quickly, but it is not enough when there are performance, cost, security, or governance issues.
Native cloud services or portable architectures: which is better?
It depends on the context: native services bring integration and speed, while portable architectures reduce lock-in. We help you find the right balance.
Can you migrate databases too?
Yes, with deep database expertise: migration, tuning, backup, restore, query optimization, and ongoing management, including through MirDB.
Do you also handle Hadoop or Cloudera migrations?
Yes: CDP clusters, HDFS, Kudu, Hive/Impala, Kerberos, Ranger, Knox, edge nodes, data replication, and post-migration tuning.
Can you optimize a migration that is already done?
Yes. We work on the performance, costs, databases, backup, monitoring, security, and operating model of environments that have already been migrated.
Does the service include cloud cost optimization?
Yes: sizing, unused resources, storage, non-production environments, costly workloads, and tagging. For broader work, it connects to a dedicated FinOps engagement.
How does it start in practice?
From an assessment of the scope (applications, databases, workloads, data, costs, risks) and, above all, of the goals. From there come the strategy, target architecture, and plan.
The technologies we use
Some of the technologies and platforms we work with on this service.
Want to move to the cloud with a clear purpose and measurable results?
We start from real applications, databases, workloads, data platforms, and constraints. We define the goals, strategy, architectural pattern, and operating plan for a cloud environment that is more stable, high-performing, secure, and governable.
